Don’t Pick A Fight With The Larger Army

Last week, a group of Somali pirates attempted to board a boat to hijack. The pirates thought it was going to be an easy steal but failed to realize that what they were racing towards was a Dutch warship. The warship fired off two warning shots in the air, which the Somali pirates ignored, and as they got closer they realized that they made a “rather silly mistake” according to Commander John Harbour. The Dutch warship chased the pirates as they fled and arrested the pirates. If only the pirates had stayed away, maybe they would have avoided trouble.

This story is much like the scripture in Luke 14:31-33

“Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace. 33In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.”

The difference between the story of the Somali Pirates and Jesus’ example is that Jesus illustrates the positive outcome. He explained that the smaller army should ask for peace while it is still far away. In their greed, the pirates, ended up advancing the wrong ship.

18-24 Year Olds Most At Risk For ID Theft

According to an article published by the Washington Post, people that are college-aged are the most vulnerable to ID theft.

Here is an excerpt of it:

“The “core millennial” group, identified as people ages 18 to 24, is at the greatest risk because it takes them longer to figure out that they have been defrauded…Millennials don’t protect enough or detect enough,” said James Van Dyke, president of Javelin Strategy & Research, a California-based company that examined where identity theft threats are coming from and what effects they are having on consumers…It takes young people an average of 132 days to detect fraudulent activity on their credit cards, bank accounts and other personal holdings, and those in older age groups average 49 days, the survey shows.

“The 18-to-24 group is unique. They’re going to college. They’re away from home for the first time. They’re sharing more information. More of their information is exposed,” Van Dyke said.
